After almost a year of construction, Cornerstone’s Engineering Lab is officially open for the fall 2022 semester!

Our campus community is eager to experience the new space, especially Professor Michael Greene, assistant professor of engineering, who was actively involved in the refurbishment process. Professor Greene looks forward to seeing how this important campus expansion will benefit our future engineers.

“As Cornerstone develops its engineering program, the addition of a fully capable lab is an essential step,” said Professor Greene. “Seniors during their capstone courses in engineering need this type of lab to complete their projects.”

Flipping the space from a multipurpose building into an engineering lab was a team effort that wouldn’t have been possible without the collaboration of CU staff across multiple departments as well as the partnerships of AMDG and Christman Construction. What began in the fall of 2021 as a vision to provide a more intentional space for students to grow into engineering innovators and leaders has come full circle just one year later.

The lab features traditional classroom spaces as well as rooms housing state-of-the-art engineering equipment, including the Instron Universal Testing Machine, Babyplast Injection Molder, Izod Impact Tester, CNC Mill, CNC Desktop Mill and Dremel 3-D Printers.

We are grateful for all of the work that has been done in revamping the multipurpose building to become our new Engineering Lab. We anticipate that this lab will be a blessing and vital resource for equipping our students to succeed in college and beyond.
